At Vibe Read, you're in control of your data. This page explains your privacy settings, how your data is handled, and how you can manage it.
EU-Based Infrastructure
Your data is stored in secure European data centers, subject to strict EU data protection laws.
GDPR Compliant
We fully comply with GDPR and Danish data protection regulations—among the strictest in the world.
Encryption by Default
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Your content is protected at every step.
No Data Selling
We never sell your data. Our business model is built on subscriptions, not advertising.
Privacy Mode
You Control Your Data
- •Privacy Mode ON: When enabled in Settings → Privacy, your content (articles, audio, transcripts) is processed but never stored long-term or used for AI model training. We maintain zero data retention for your content.
- •Privacy Mode OFF: Your content may be used to improve Vibe Read's features and AI models. You can change this setting at any time.
- •We never sell your data. Our business model is based on subscriptions, not your personal information.
Audio Processing
When you convert articles to audio, the text is sent to our servers for processing. Here's how it works:
- Text is transmitted securely via encrypted connections (TLS)
- Audio is generated using AI text-to-speech technology
- With Privacy Mode ON, content is deleted immediately after processing
- Generated audio is cached locally on your device for offline playback
AI Chat Features
Our AI chat feature lets you interact with your content. When you use this feature:
- Your questions and the relevant content are sent to our AI providers
- AI providers are contractually prohibited from using your data to train models
- Chat history is stored to provide conversation continuity
- You can delete your chat history at any time in Settings
Connected Services
When you connect services like X (Twitter) to sync bookmarks:
- We store authentication tokens securely to access your bookmarks
- We only fetch bookmarks—we never post or modify anything on your behalf
- You can disconnect services at any time in Settings
- Disconnecting immediately revokes our access
Your Data Controls
Export Your Data
Download a complete copy of your Vibe Read data at any time. Go to Settings → Account → Export Data. You'll receive your articles, notes, and account information in a portable format.
Delete Your Account
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This action is irreversible and will permanently remove all your data within 30 days.
View Your Data
Request a detailed report of all personal data we hold about you. Contact us at founders@summerengine.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Third-Party AI Providers
Vibe Read uses third-party AI services to provide text-to-speech and chat features. Important points:
- No model training: Our agreements with AI providers explicitly prohibit them from using your data to train their models.
- Data deletion: Providers delete your data after processing, typically within 30 days.
- Contractual safeguards: All providers have signed data processing agreements compliant with GDPR requirements.
Analytics
We collect minimal analytics to understand how Vibe Read is used and to improve the service:
- Usage statistics (e.g., features used, session duration)
- Error and crash reports to fix bugs
- Performance metrics to optimize the app
Analytics data is anonymized and aggregated. We do not track individual reading habits or content preferences for advertising purposes.
